LAJCAK’S DIALOGUE HAS BECOME SERBIA’S MECHANISM TO ADVANCE ITS POSITION AND REMAIN UNCHALLENGED FOR ITS CONTINUOUS BELLIGERENCE IN THE REGION

By Meliza Haradinaj- For quite some time now, the Brussels dialogue has been unstructured in priorities, undefined in timeframes, and unclear in its final goal. Even worse: this dialogue has proven that it is NOT guided by the principle of the equality of the parties, has no oversight mechanism for the implementation of the existing agreements, and no clear and predictable punitive measures for the parties that obstruct peace, stability and normalization. The EU is clueless about what normalization means: is it mutual diplomatic recognition between Kosovo and Serbia, or is it a never-attainable abstract goal?! In the next few days, we will also mark the 1st anniversary of the crime of Serbia’s aggression against the Republic of Kosovo that happened in Banjskë last September, while we should also learn valuable lessons: Lajcak’s dialogue failed when Banjska happened, for which Serbia to date remained unchallenged, unpunished, unsanctioned. Therefore, Kosovo should review its participation in a permanently undefined dialogue where equality and predictability are not provided. It should also reassess its position in a format that is quick to sanction Kosovo for its legitimate actions but fails to sanction Serbia for its crime of aggression.

Ms. Meliza Haradinaj was the former Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kosovo.
