SELIM IBRAIMI In the era of global information, state information war and non-state actors, Albanians of Macedonia are represented outside the homeland by embassies and consulates of the Macedonian state. The information on the political and economic situation is unilateral by presenting only the views of the government and parliamentary political life.
As noted by foreign observers, for decades Albanians of Macedonia are inadequate for the Macedonian diplomatic system, where ethnic discrimination is still ongoing and only members of the close circle of Albanian political parties in power can enter it the system and of course the individuals who had a chain line with ex communist regime since 1945 and beyond.

  • However foreign diplomats in Macedonia and abroad rely on government official information and often refer to secondary sources to validate what the government has distributed on regular bulletins along with the Foreign Ministry.
It seems more than five years, accredited Ambassadors in Macedonia and their political and economic sections that are structurally linked to local staff from Macedonian and Albanian employees, have forgotten that they are not just government and foreign ministry sources, basic information on building policies.

Situated in a closed system called “Coast Shells”, Albanians of Macedonia based on all international norms should look for alternative systems for presenting out of their homeland the values and insisting from within this management to change so far. By doing politics from below, remains an impossible mission of our political parties that represent Albanians of Macedonia. So far, this process has not happened. The “Gligorovian Concept” still has no one to challenge in Macedonia.
The system of ongoing discrimination may be based on internal disagreements that are dominating the Macedonian political scene and the political collapse of Albanians of Macedonia. The sooner to intervene in this policy will be easier for Macedonia and its future, as the transformation will go in favor of the process of reconciliation of internal Albanian-Macedonian relations in the third decade.
Although the government of Prime Minister Zaev has announced a concept of action “One Society for All”, this is not enough for the Albanians of Macedonia to make them for themselves.
Their loyalty cannot be rewarded with State positions or with an experimental concept that again favors an ethnic group that manages the state’s financial resources.
Concerns over this way of governance based on the “Gligorovian Concept” have been unveiled since 1992, but because of the state intervention in the Party for Democratic Prosperity (PPD), the efforts for profound changes in the Albanian sector were over.
Now, in this miserable state of Albanian civil representation in the diplomatic missions, only independent organizations, journalists, influential individuals in foreign circles and a few independent intellectuals in Macedonia, are left to continue their efforts to inform the world and clear about the system that has been established in Macedonia. In a certain degree, it is not only the fault of the government but also of the political parties that represent Albanians of Macedonia that have covered the Albanian political space with dark clouds.

[box type=”info” align=”alignleft” ]This type of government and political activity may be an indicator that Albanians of Macedonia are entering in the era of political and ethnic conservation-frozen for several decades. There may seem an alarm as it did during the Cold War, but the violation of basic rights is intolerable in a Macedonia that claims to become a member of NATO and the EU.[/box]
